The novel coronavirus continues to spread globally disrupting the world economy. As of April 22, according to the data collected by the Johns Hopkins University in the United States, the global death toll surpassed 177,415 amid more than 2.5 million cases. It also states more than 681,216 people have recovered from the disease worldwide. In an effort to control the spread of the virus, many government authorities discouraged large gatherings as the virus can be more easily passed from person to person. Chinese authorities issued a circular on April 8, adopting prevention and control measures for key venues, units, and groups, to curb the novel coronavirus outbreak. The Chinese government instituted a ban on large gatherings and a travel ban on foreigners as a measure to control the spread of the coronavirus. In response to the government guidelines and concerns for public health and safety of participants, visitors, many event organizers have issued statements on the status and plans for various events.
Let’s take a look at the status of some scheduled events in China.
Auto China 2020. The 16th Beijing International Automobile Exhibition (AUTO CHINA 2020) was scheduled to take place in April at both the Old and New China International Exhibition Center (CIEC). Auto China an extraordinary exhibition displaying the latest achievements and promotes the trade and exchange of the global auto industries. In light of the challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic, the Auto China 2020 is rescheduled to 26th September to 5th October, 2020.
The ChinaPlas is well-recognized by the global plastics and rubber industries for its rich content and activities, worldwide attendance, and significant market influence. This year’s event was slated for 21-24th April 2020 with over 3,800 worldwide exhibitors to showcase their leading technologies and innovations. The 34th international exhibition is rescheduled to 3-6 August 2020.
InfoComm China 2020. China is the world’s largest professional audio-visual market. Since 2007, Infocomm China Beijing has been a well-known trade fair in the field of professional audio-visual and integrated experience solutions. The high-profile InfoComm China 2020 of InfoComm was originally scheduled for March. It’s rescheduled to be held at the National Convention Center (CNCC) from Monday to Wednesday, September 28-30, 2020. It will cover 68000 square meters at the National Convention Center (CNCC), bringing together more than 450 exhibitors from home and abroad to show the cutting-edge innovative professional audio-visual and integrated experience solutions. Next year’s Infocomm China 2021 exhibition in Beijing will also be held in the National Convention Center (CNCC) from July 21-23, 2021, so as to ensure a reasonable interval between the two exhibitions.
CCMT FAIR 2020: China CNC Machine Tool Fair (CCMT) was founded in Shanghai in 2000. It has successfully held ten times so far, of which, seven sessions were held in Shanghai, one session in Beijing, and two sessions in Nanjing. Early this year, in response to the COVID-19 epidemic control measures, the organizers announced the postponement of CCMT which was originally scheduled to be held in Shanghai New International Expo Center on April 7-11, 2020.
MWC 2020: MWC is the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry, and incorporates a thought-leadership conference featuring prominent executives representing global mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors, and content owners. According to a release by the organizers GSMA, the MWC Shanghai 2020 canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak, travel restrictions, and other concerns.
Laser World of Photonics China 2020: The diverse range of exhibits covers the full spectrum of the photonics industry including components and manufacturing equipment and all topics that pertain to optical technologies. In response to the novel coronavirus epidemic and to follow the Shanghai Municipal government’s guidelines the exhibition has been rescheduled to July 3-5, 2020 at Shanghai New International Expo Center instead of the original date of March 18-20, 2020.
